Happy Mother's Day! I'm celebrating by graduating from Syracuse University, at the 5,000+ student ceremony in the Carrier Dome. My mother is here, Joe Biden is speaking, and it's a beautiful day to celebrate love and life! |

Lesson #6: Revel in your graduation. You're only an undergraduate once, and you only finish this spectacular time in your life once. Enjoy it. Sit with your friends. Listen to the speaker. Take pictures. Smile at your parents. Smile at strangers. Be happy. |

Lesson #7: Study outside your "box."
Most of you know, I'm a triple major student with honors. Yea, it's been a pain in the ass sometimes, but I am so grateful to whatever force made me diversify my studies. Spanish, Psychology and Magazine Journalism are far from being related, but they have made my liberal arts experience so much better. By getting outside of only one major or field of study, I have not only learned far beyond any limits I could have imagined, but I have met many different types of people - most wonderful in their own right. Be a nerd! Take random classes, take part in the pleasure of learning. |

Lesson #8: Buy the extra tassel.
Syracuse University must be run by scoudrel crooks. I am a triple major in two colleges, and I had to purchase the additional tassel for my second graduation!! WTF, SU?? I was fuming when I went to pick up my cap and gown. How dare you punish me by $7 when you should be thanking me for being so great?? Well, I got over it, and am now glad I forked over the extra couple bucks. Sure, it's the principle of the thing - they shouldn't charge for something I need, but I'll keep it forever (or until I lose it). When I'm sitting among my other friends in my colleges at our ceremonies tomorrow, I'll be proud to have the maroon/white tassle that matches the rest of them. |
